EYE CARE

Eye testing

Trust only the best with your eyes

Eye exams are a crucial part of maintaining your health. Here at Great Lakes Family Vision, we are able to evaluate vision and refractive disorders in adults and children as young as 3. Visual development happens quickly during the first years of life, so it's important to have potential problems that might interfere with normal visual growth assessed early on.

Quality eye care for the whole family

Vision problems can cause many problems as children develop, including poor performance in school, frequent eye health issues, and learning problems. That is why early detection and management are important. We also treat vision problems and eye disorders in adults. Call today to schedule eye examinations for you and your family!

A comprehensive eye examination will assess the following components:

  • Visual acuity measures how clearly a patient sees objects.
  • Refractive status measures for nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism.
  • Eye tracking is the ability of the eyes to fixate, smoothly follow and look between objects or printed words.
  • Eye focusing is the ability to efficiently change and sustain focus while reading.
  • Eye teaming is the ability to coordinate both eyes accurately and without fatigue or excessive effort. This is important for accurate two-eyed depth perception or stereopsis.
  • Eye health problems including active pathology or congenital anomalies.

We assess and treat eye conditions, including:

  • Cataracts
  • Pink eye
  • Glaucoma
  • Corneal Ulcers
  • Dry eyes
  • Foreign Bodies
  • Stye
  • Macular Degeneration
  • Seasonal Allergies
  • And more

Routine eye evaluations for children

The American Optometric Association recommends that all children should have a complete vision and eye health check up at the age of 3 and also upon entering Kindergarten. They also recommend routine eye care every year and thereafter throughout their school years.
